Rittenhouse Square is a beautiful neighborhood offering ample activities to enjoy this spring. Here are some fun spring events in or near your neighborhood.
Rittenhouse Row Spring Festival, May 20
The Rittenhouse Row Spring Festival is one of the most popular in Philadelphia. Each year, for one Saturday, the festival takes over Walnut Street to feature the neighborhood’s best eats, arts, fashion, and entertainment. Restaurants, lined up on the sidewalk, offer samples of their tastiest foods while live entertainment is stationed along the route. The event attracts nearly 50,000 each year from across the area. The event itself is free and open to the public.
Chinese Lantern Festival, May 9 – June 11
Just across town from your Rittenhouse Square condo, you’ll find the Chinese Lantern Festival in Franklin Square. After an incredibly successful first year welcoming more than 90,000 people to the event, the Chinese Lantern Festival returns to Philadelphia this spring. Franklin Square will be set aglow with 29 new lanterns, including a newly rebuilt 200-foot Chinese dragon constructed by lantern artisans from China. In addition to the lanterns, visitors will enjoy performances featuring traditional Chinese dance and music each night at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tickets are required for entry to the festival and on sale now.
Spruce Street Harbor Park, May – September
Spruce Street Harbor Park is named one of the best places to visit in Philadelphia! Located along the waterfront, this pop-up park is in its fourth year of offering colorful hammocks, yard games, and local eats and drinks to Philadelphians. Though on the other side of town from your Rittenhouse Square condo, the trip is well worth it. As soon as the warm weather hits, swinging in a hammock at the waterfront or lounging in a net suspended over the river enjoying a frosty beverage is the way to enjoy Philadelphia. In addition to lawn games like bocce and life-sized chess, the park also features shipping containers housing Basket Fever skeeball, air hockey, claw crane games, Ms. Pacman, and two racing games. Happy hanging!
Whether you want to stick close to your Rittenhouse Square condo, or venture further into the city, there’s something to experience this spring. So, get out and enjoy it!
